What do your animals do that makes you smile?

Miesha my 5 year old bengal cat and Chunk, my recent adopted older dog of 8 years young, amaze me each and every day. Miesha accepted Chunkie into her home, yes she is the Queen and rules the household, within the first 24 hours. Chunk had patience with Miesha and any contact was on her terms. She brought her turtle toy downstairs later in the evening and Chunkie happily picked it up and took it to his bed. That turtle has now remained with him ever since. Miesha has let Chunk share her toys and doesn’t seem to mind at all.

Day 4 she nose bumped Chunk to say ‘ok I guess you are cool to have as an older brother’ and the bond was formed. Miesha is inquisitive, adventurous, intelligent and sometimes a nervous wreck but she has adapted having Chunk in our lives so well. She sees him as a loud, playful, loving brother and cannot understand why he tries to stop her going under the hedge in our garden. Chunk is trying to protect her, he doesn’t like it if he cannot see her. But this is Chunk’s role, he guards our home and he wants to protect us and keep us all safe.

Watching their relationship develop over the last few months really showed me how both, Miesha and Chunk are spiritual teachers, showing me to trust in them, letting them lead to form their own relationship. Accepting each other, showing compassion to each other and being able to stand back when needed, unless there is food involved, they both love food!!

Seeing them together eating breakfast and dinner makes me smile. When I catch Miesha lying on her back reaching out to touch Chunkie, makes me smile. When I have them both with me on the sofa or when they are next to each other chilling out, makes me smile. How they have opened up their hearts to allow me to foster another dog into our home and for both of them again to show acceptance and love towards her, makes me smile. I am so grateful for my animals and respect how they are just being themselves each and every day.

I would love to know what your animals do that makes you smile, especially during these uncertain times. Please go ahead and leave a comment if you wish.
