Animal Reiki talks...
This is a short story of how just one conversation about Animal Reiki can help people connect deeper and heal their animals…
By being open and talking to people about Animal Reiki, practitioners and teachers really provide an opportunity to how animal caregivers and pet parents can deepen their relationship and improve their connection with their animals, no matter how long they may have been together, what is happening at home or from any related previous trauma/abuse their animals may have experienced. Here is Emma’s experience and story:
I met Sam through her rescue foster dog Poppy going missing... but I am so pleased I did. We were sat cooking on a BBQ one night trying to entice Poppy out of the woods with the smell of food and were chatting. Sam was talking about a time she was sharing Animal Reiki with a group of donkeys and how you let the animals take the lead and how you let them come to you. I was taking in everything Sam was saying, although a little skeptical.
But… in reality, what can I say, I was presented with undeniable proof. My rescue horse Tex of 10 years had previously been abused and hit around the head. I have struggled to touch his head and mane without him flinging his head around, so much that last year in 2019 he broke my nose. I suddenly realised, from my conversation with Sam, how I was invading his space. I would normally go down to his field and walk right up to him, regardless of whether he wanted me to or not! So using what Sam had said, keeping myself calm I let him come to me. And what an amazing change!! I can now touch his face all over and his mane. By doing it on his terms and letting him come to me, 10 years later I am now seeing a different, calmer horse!
Now what can I say about our dog Rocky.... previously I would have said he disliked other people and dogs, but after his first meeting with Sam and her dog Chunk, things started to change. Rocky initially barked, growled and showed aggression when he first met Sam and Chunk but then he just calmed down and took a liking to Sam. I think he sensed her calming influence and he went right up to her.
Since each meeting he has been calm, when he hears Sam’s voice he calms! This has cascaded into our home too, Rocky is more chilled. Again we are not pushing any interaction from him and letting him take the lead. Rocky is also more calm on walks where previously he would growl and his hackles come up at any other dog, now we walk past a dog with a friendlier bark - what a difference! I can not thank Sam enough. She has changed my animals lives for the better!
